MOTORIZR Z8 announced
By Dusan Belic on Tuesday, February 13th, 2007 at 5:17 pm PST In 3GSM, Announcements, Motorola, Symbian
We thought Motorola dropped Symbian. After all, we haven’t seen any Moto Symbian-powered device for couple of years. But… we were wrong. At the 3GSM they presented their new Symbian UIQ 3.1-based MOTORIZR Z8.
It’s kind a sporty, and has all the multimedia features of a solid Symbian-powered device. The Z8 supports HSDPA (and UMTS of course), has a 2MP camera with 8x zoom (digital), 2.2″ screen, 90 MB of internal memory and unlike most Nokia smartphones supports A2DP Bluetooth stereo. The way I see, the new device will compete with such devices as Sony Ericsson Walkman-branded phones or Nokia 5500 sport.
Interesting is the fact that this is the first non-touchscreen UIQ-based device. I’m sure that Sony Ericsson will also follow this way and will release a similar device.
We haven’t got the time to check out the device more thoroughly. We took only two photos. And you can get full specs of the new MOTORIZR Z8 here.
P.S. The Z8 sports the powerful Discretix‘ DRM solution (yes, we love our sponsors). ![]()
